Ladies and gentleman, I introduce you to my newest bacpacking meal invention. This is Quinoa and ramen mixed together using that ramen packet of flavoring. Yeah sounds gross, but the quinoa soaks up the greasy oily water from that flavoring packet pretty well, and the noodles make up for the lack of carbs in quinoa, while the grain helps with protein and whatever else. Be warned, quinoa takes a tad longer to cook than most pastas and grains…an issue if your cooking on a small propane canister on a tiny MSR stove…

ok so I forgot to bring something to flavor the quinoa…thats really what happened here…had to combine it with something…ramen noodles dont fill me up very well.

  10. ginandbird said: if you can, soak the quinoa over night before you leave on a trek… (you can drain it and bag it, or put it in a sealed container) it cooks up WAY faster…
