This Morning…

I lost a battle with the soft top on my Wrangler. It was roughly 39 degrees outside at 5:30 am, chilly if your standing still, soul piercing if your whipping along at a blistering 60 mph…

So the top stayed down (no one tells you the soft top material shrinks a bit when the temps shift so quickly…). I went inside, threw on a wool layer, down layer, hard shell, gloves, beanie, and face mask for comfort. I even turned the heat on and pretended like it wasn’t escaping into the open air… I can imagine I provided some comedic stress relief for passerbys this morning on the roads..

I was all bummed and miserable, driving 45 minutes to work until, about halfway there, I passed another Wrangler. Wouldn’t you know it, top down, ski mask on, gripping the steering wheel with his heavy winter mittens like you grip the last valuable possession you own…before it gets stamped, shattered, and blows away…like my dignity…

We waved, and being glad I could relate with some other poor sap this morning, I found myself unable to stop my ugly mug from morphing slowly into a cheery smile.
